I send 4 heroes out loaded with Xeno infection rifles and just hunt Biological units on the map. You don't really need to bother with Xeno units until you get the ability to evolve a pustule into a devourer via a strategic op, and get the doctrine that increases the spawning of Xeno units after battle by +30% per hero in army.
